Gloria Simonetti

Gloria Simonetti (born January 5, 1948 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean singer.

Simonetti began her career as a singer at university festivals , where she performed with Julio Zegers between 1964 and 1967 . In 1967 she received a contract with RCA Victor , and the following year she was represented at the Festival de Viña del Mar with three titles (by Julio Zegers, by Nano Vicencio and by Carlos González and Hugo Beiza ). In 1968 she starred alongside Pedro Messone , Los Huasos Quincheros and Fresia Soto in Germán Becker's film Ayúdeme usted, compadre .

In the following years she worked with Scottie Scott . He composed the title Mira, mira for her , with which she had success at the Festival de Viña del Mar 1969. In 1971 she gave a concert at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago , the recording of which was released as an LP under the title Gloria en el Municipal . In the early 1970s she met the pianist and composer Luis Advis , who became her musical partner. With his Cantanta Santa María de Iquique she won the Festival of Bulgaria in 1973.

In the near future she worked with Isabel Parra and Patricio Manns and the arranger Horacio Saavedra . In 1981 she succeeded in bringing Ojalá, a song by the Cuban Canto author Silvio Rodríguez , onto television under the eyes of the Chilean military regime. They also made Santa Lucia by Miguel Ríos and Entreparéntesis by Nino García famous in Chile. In later years she recorded albums with Valentín Trujillo , Daniel Guerrero and Quique Neira, among others .
