Raymond Druart

Raymond Druart (born April 7, 1901 in Rimogne , Ardennes , France , † June 17, 1968 in France) was a French film architect .

Live and act

Born in the far north of France, Druart attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and then worked as an outfitter for the stage and film. At the cinema he initially served as assistant to the veteran production designer Hugues Laurent , before he was allowed to work independently as Laurent's junior partner from 1937 until the outbreak of war in 1939. As a film architect, Druart designed the buildings for a number of secondary films until the late 1950s. Raymond Druart was only occasionally able to work with higher-class directors, including Marcel L'Herbier , Jacqueline Audry and Jean Grémillon . In 1957 he ended his film activities.
