Volkan Şen (born July 7, 1987 in Bursa ) is a Turkish football player .
Career
societies
Şen played for Bursa Merinosspor and TSE Arabayatağıspor in their youth. In 2005 he switched to the first division club Bursaspor as a professional player . Bursaspor loaned him to his former youth club Bursa Merinosspor for one season.
His first game for Bursaspor in the Turkcell Süper Lig made Şen on August 12, 2007 against Denizlispor and his first goal he scored on December 1, 2007 against Kasımpaşa Istanbul . In the 2009/10 season he was Turkish champions with Bursaspor. He himself played a large part in this success. In 27 games, Volkan scored six goals and prepared seven goals. On August 28, 2011, Şen moved to Trabzonspor .
During the game against Çaykur Rizespor on August 26, 2013, Şen quarreled with at least four of his own viewers who insulted him. He then left the field crying without being replaced. Because of undisciplined behavior, the head coach Mustafa Reşit Akçay Şen and his teammate Batuhan Karadeniz suspended from the team.
In spring 2014, Şen returned to his old club Bursaspor . At his hometown club he managed to build on his old achievements again in the 2014/15 season thanks to the targeted support from the new coach Şenol Güneş and to surpass them. He finished the season with 12 goals in 30 league games and was rated by a large number of Turkish sports journalists as one of the best midfielders of the past season due to his season performance.
After Şen's sponsor Güneş left the club at Bursaspor in the summer of 2015 and was replaced by Ertuğrul Sağlam , Şen expressed his wish to leave the club as well. He was then suspended from the squad. After these developments, the clubs Beşiktaş Istanbul , Galatasaray Istanbul and Fenerbahçe Istanbul, known in Turkish football as the three big ones, tried to get a commitment from Şens. After Beşiktaş and then Galatasaray tried hard to sign the midfield all-rounder, Fenerbahçe reached an agreement with Bursaspor and Şen on August 14, 2015 and completed the move.
The contract between Şen and Fenerbahçe Istanbul was terminated for the 2017/18 season. Towards the end of the 2017 summer transfer period, he was signed by his former club Trabzonspor. After half a season Şen left Trabzon and moved to Konyaspor .
After Şen had been unemployed for the 2018/19 season, he signed a two-year contract with second division Adana Demirspor in summer 2019 .
National team
Şen made his debut for Turkey on March 3, 2010 in the friendly against Honduras.
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Turkish squad . In the opening game against the Croatian national team, he was substituted on at half-time when the score was 0: 1. Then he played again against the Czech Republic and was even in the starting line-up. After the three group games, the tournament was over for the team.
