Berk Yıldız (born January 9, 1996 in Izmir ) is a Turkish football player .

Player career

Yıldız was born in Konak , a central part of the western Turkish city of Izmir . Here he began in the youth department of his district club Karşıyaka SK with club football. After only a year he was noticed by the scouts of the Turkish top club Galatasaray Istanbul . So Yıldız moved in spring 2008 with a professional contract in the youth department of Istanbul. In the 2011/12 season, the head coach of the professional team, Fatih Terim , was involved in training the first team in addition to his work with the youth and reserve teams. On January 10, 2012 Yıldız made his professional debut in the cup encounter against Adana Demirspor . He then played exclusively for the youth and reserve teams.

For the 2014/15 season he was loaned to the second division side Elazığspor . In the summer of 2015 he was signed by Elazığspor. In January 2018, Yıldız moved on to Yeni Malatyaspor .

National team

Yıldız's national team career began in 2011 with a deployment for the Turkish U-15 national team. He then went through all the youth departments in his country up to U-18.

  • In July 2014, Yıldız inadvertently attracted the attention of the Turkish media. At that time he was in a team camp of the Turkish junior national teams. The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited this team camp and talked to the young players during his visit. The conservative politician criticized Yıldız's tattoos in front of the camera and pointed to the health risks of tattoos. The Turkish media reported on this incident for several days.
