Mustapha Soon Carayol (born September 4, 1988 in Banjul ) is a Gambian football player who is under contract with the Cypriot first division club Apollon Limassol .

First stations

The Gambia-born Mustapha Carayol signed his first professional contract with English fourth division club Milton Keynes Dons in August 2007 . After his debut in the League Cup , he moved in October 2007 on loan to fifth division team Crawley Town , for whom he was able to score two goals in twenty-five league games. On 13 July 2008 he joined the also in the fünftklassigen Conference National gambling club Torquay United . With his team he rose to the fourth division thanks to a 2-0 win in the play-off final over Cambridge United . After an interim loan to Kettering Town , he scored six goals in twenty league games of Football League Two in the 2009/10 season .

In May 2010, Carayol signed a contract with fourth division Lincoln City . With his team he rose at the end of the season as the table penultimate of the Football League Two 2010/11 in the fifth division and therefore moved again in June 2011, the club and joined the Bristol Rovers . For the table thirteenth of the Football League Two 2011/12 he scored four goals and was able to arouse the interest of several second division teams with his good performances.

Middlesbrough FC

On August 1, 2012 Mustapha Carayol moved to the second division club Middlesbrough FC and signed a three-year contract. After eighteen appearances and three goals in the Football League Championship 2012/13 , he scored eight goals for the club from Middlesbrough in 2013/14 . An even better goal yield was prevented in mid-March 2014 by an injury at the 0-0 draw in Bournemouth. The knee injury caused the winger to be on a forced break for months. After more than a year of convalescence, he moved to Brighton & Hove Albion on loan on March 26, 2015 and played five games for the second division club by the end of the season.

In August 2015, he was loaned to Huddersfield Town for the 2015/16 season. After three goals in fifteen league games, the loan deal was terminated prematurely after a coach change by the new coach David Wagner . A few days later, he moved to Leeds United on loan until the end of the season .

Nottingham Forest

On August 31, 2016, Mustapha Carayol signed a contract with the second division club Nottingham Forest .

Gambian national soccer team

In May 2015, Carayol announced that he would play for the national team of his home country Gambia. On June 9, 2015, he made his debut in the Gambian national soccer team with a 1-1 draw in Uganda.
