Career

As a player

Jesse Carver was known during his playing career as a rather rough defender and played in the World Cup system on the position of the center runner . In the season 1933/34 he completed a game for the Blackburn Rovers , which finished the season as eighth in the Football League First Division .

In 1936, Carver moved to Newcastle United , for whom he made his debut in August against Barnsley FC . After 70 league and six FA Cup appearances, his playing career came to an abrupt end in 1939 with the outbreak of World War II . During the war years, Carver worked as a police officer .

As a trainer

In the years after the Second World War, football training in England took place largely without a ball. Rather, great emphasis was placed on running training, as it was believed that otherwise the players would lose their joy in playing. Jesse Carver, on the other hand, was one of the pioneers in the development of playing skills, athleticism and tactical knowledge in training and therefore always trained with the ball.

After brief stays at Huddersfield Town in his home country and the Dutch club RFC Xerxes in Rotterdam, Jesse Carver worked as the national coach of the Dutch national team between 1947 and 1948 . After that, his coaching stations between England and Italy , where he u. a. Juventus Turin , Lazio and Inter Milan trained. He later worked as a trainer at APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus .

The only big title of his coaching career was Carver in the 1949/50 season by winning the Italian championship at Juventus Turin.
