On November 30, 1901, Tenney were given town charter. The city has been connected to the electricity grid since 1914 . After more than 100 people lived there in the 1920s, the number of inhabitants decreased continuously in the following period. This was accompanied by an increasing decline in the urban infrastructure. After 2000, the lowest population was measured with two residents, which later rose to six again. In 2011, the majority of residents decided to give up the status of an independent community and submit to the administration of Campbell Township.
