Jeremy Clayton Guscott (born July 7, 1965 in Bath ) is a former English rugby union player. He played for Bath rugby , the England team and the British and Irish Lions .

Career

Guscott made his national team debut in 1989 against Romania , in which he was able to put three attempts . In the same year he was also considered for his first Lions tour. He was used in the two final games against Australia , the Lions finally won the series 2-1. In 1991 he reached the final of the World Cup with England , but lost there against the Australians.

On his second Lions tour to New Zealand in 1993 , Guscott played in all Tests against the All Blacks . 1995 was again in England's squad for the World Cup . He lost his place the following year, but soon returned to his form and was nominated for the third time for the Lions. In the second test against South Africa , he scored the decisive drop goal to win the selection, which ultimately won the series. At the 1999 World Cup he played for England for the last time against Tonga and also made his last attempt. In 2000 he also ended his club career at Bath.

Since the end of his career, Guscott has worked as an expert for the BBC and writes columns for several British magazines.
