Peter Seeger

Peter Seeger (born January 5, 1919 in Berlin ; † July 7, 2008 ) was a German composer , music teacher and conductor .

Life

He studied from 1936 to 1940 at the State University for Music a . a. with Kurt Thomas (choir direction), Fritz Stein and Walther Gmeindl (orchestra direction ), as well as with Heinz Tiessen and Paul Höffer (composition). After the war he became music director in Nordhausen, came to Offenburg in 1947 as director of the Ortenau music school, from where he directed the town band “Harmonie” Kehl-Sundheim, became a music educator at the Lender home school in Sasbach am Kaiserstuhl in 1957 and a music educator at Johann in 1960 -Sebastian-Bach-Gymnasium in Mannheim. He was the Bundeschormeister in the Badischer Sängerbund. As a composer he wrote mainly for wind band and choirs.
