Beren Tuna

Beren Tuna (born July 7, 1980 in Ostfildern , Germany ) is an actress and director based in Zurich .

Life

Beren Tuna grew up in Turkey and Germany . After her time at high school and her first experiences at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart , she completed an acting degree at the Zurich University of Music and Theater (today Zurich University of the Arts ). Beren Tuna works in theater, film and television as well as in readings and presentations. She has also worked as a theater director since 2017. She is a founding member of the production platform 1visible and the actress network FemaleAct . She has also been a member of the Swiss Film Academy since 2016.

After theater productions in Switzerland and Germany, she played her first leading role in the film Köpek - Stories from Istanbul by director Esen Işık . For the role of Hayat, she was awarded the Swiss Film Prize for Best Actress in 2016. Beren Tuna starred in the multiple award-winning short films Der Mandarinenbaum and Stilles Land Gutes Land . Other roles in movies are Al-Shafaq - When the Sky Split (Director: Esen Işık (2019)) and Beyto (Director: Gitta Gsell (2020)). Her first leading role in a television production was Elena in the series Seitentriebe .

Beren Tuna lives in Zurich with her partner and two children. She has German and Swiss citizenship.
