Johann Ludwig of Savoy

Johann Ludwig von Savoyen (born February 16, 1447 in Geneva , † July 7, 1482 in Turin ) was administrator of the Archdiocese of Tarentaise and the Diocese of Geneva .

Life

Johann Ludwig was born on February 16, 1447 in Geneva and was the son of Duke Ludwig of Savoy and Anna of Cyprus, daughter of King Janus of Cyprus . In 1451, Pope Nicholas V awarded him the Payerne and Romainmôtier benefit that his grandfather Felix V had already had . In 1456 he was transferred to Geneva as the successor to his brother Peter Administrator of the Archdiocese of Tarentaise and in 1460. Despite numerous benefits, it was never consecrated . In 1477 Johann Ludwig concluded a castle law treaty with Geneva as well as with Freiburg and Bern . In 1482 he became governor general of Piedmont .

He died in Turin on July 7, 1482 .
