Peter of Savoy

Peter of Savoy (* around 1440 ; † October 21, 1458 in Turin ) was Archbishop of Tarentaise and Bishop of Geneva .

Life

Peter was the son of Duke Ludwig of Savoy and Anna of Cyprus, daughter of King Janus of Cyprus Peter was the grandson of the antipope Felix V , formerly Duke Amadeus VIII of Savoy. The bishops of Geneva, Johann Ludwig von Savoyen and Franz von Savoyen were brothers, the Geneva bishop Philip of Savoyen was a nephew of Peter.

Peter held the honorary title of Apostolic Protonotary and was Abbot of Sant'Andrea in Vercelli . On January 13, 1451, the Geneva chapter of the cathedral made it the property of the diocese. Pope Nicholas V appointed Jean de Grolée as administrator of the diocese on February 28, 1451 , but he resigned in April of the same year. In followed Thomas de Sur as an administrator. From 1454 to 1456 Peter was also Archbishop of Tarentaise. There was Andreas, titular bishop of Hebron , administrator of the archdiocese.

Peter studied in Turin , where he died on October 21, 1458. He was buried in the Franciscan church in Pinerolo .
