Live and act

Franz was probably born in Geneva in 1454 and was the son of Duke Ludwig of Savoy and Anna of Cyprus, daughter of King Janus of Cyprus . He was raised at the French royal court and received numerous benefits as a child . In 1459 he became provost of the hospice on the Great St. Bernard , received the priories of Payerne and Romainmôtier in 1482 and of Saint-Sulpice in 1483 . Attempts to become Bishop of Lausanne failed because the Pope refused to confirm the election by the cathedral chapter . In 1483 Franz became Archbishop of Auch and in 1484, when Jean de Compey moved to Turin, he was also the administrator of the diocese of Geneva. After the death of his nephew, Duke Charles I of Savoy , he became governor of the Duchy of Savoy .

He died in Turin on October 3, 1490 .
