Nikolai Samuilowitsch Abelman ( Russian Николай Самуилович Абельман * February 7 . Jul / 19th February  1887 greg. , †  7. July 1918 in Moscow ) was a Russian revolutionary and participant in the October Revolution .

Life

Engineer Abelman joined the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (RSDLP) in March 1917 . Since May 1917 he was the chairman of the Kovrov city ​​council committee . After the October Revolution he was chairman of the Revolutionary Military Committee in Kovrov and since January 1918 chairman of the Kovrov Soviet. In July 1918 he was a delegate of the 5th All-Russian Congress of Soviets. The Left Social Revolutionaries were defeated at this Congress of Soviets and began an uprising in Moscow on July 6th and 7th. They occupied Dreiheiligkeitsgasse and the barracks at Pokrowski Gate and from there began to pound the Kremlin with artillery fire. Abelman participated in the suppression of the Left Social Revolutionary uprising and fell in battle near the Pokrovsky Gate (now the Abelman Gate) in Moscow.

Honors

A street in Moscow and the square of the Abelman Gate are named after Abelman.
