American Hi-Fi is a rock band based out of Boston , Massachusetts and part of Los Angeles , California .

Band history

The band, which plays in a classic rock line-up, was founded by Stacy Jones. As a little boy he drummed with wooden spoons to his father's plates. Finally he got a drum kit and started on the circuit through all the garages (bands) in the area. His first real band called Letters To Cleo was formed during his college days in Boston, with whom he recorded two albums and even toured abroad. Although he had spent many years with Letters To Cleo and it went steadily, he took the chance to switch to a band that was already one step ahead. According to the American Hi-Fi website, at Veruca Salt he got a taste for being in the foreground himself. For this purpose he practiced singing and learned to play the guitar by himself. He told the Billboard for the May 5, 2001 issue:

“I'm still the same person. I don't subscribe to the idea of rock star posing. I'm working with three of my best friends, and we're a team. I have to admit, though, that I didn't know I would enjoy playing guitar and singing so much. "

From his circle of friends in Boston he recruited the bassist Drew Parsons, who was hired by Tracy Bonham. Brian Nolan had just finished his drum job at Fig Dish in Chicago and Jamie Arentzen, the lead guitarist, was hitched to the Sky Heroes. The well-known producer Bob Rock knew Jones from the Veruca Salt time and supported him, from the rehearsal room in Hawaii to state-of-the-art equipment and local test gigs to professional recordings. The extraction Flavor Of The Weak (release date February 27, 2001) about a girl who is not respected by his stinkfaulen friend, received by radio airplay and MTV - rotating the Rising Star Award at the Boston Music Awards . Bob Rock was no longer available for the second album, The Art Of Losing , and the Iceland record company also scaled back its promotion efforts. Most recently the band even lost their deal. Instead, they toured all the time. Before the recordings of the third album, Hearts On Parade , released by the Maverick label , the musicians moved one by one to Los Angeles. Since spring 2006 they have been working on a new album.

Music genre

Her style includes elements of alternative , punk rock and metal . On their third album Hearts On Parade they strike for the first time quieter, Britpop- influenced tones than on the previous two albums; the album still has the typical American hi-fi sound.
