Default is a Canadian post-grunge band from Vancouver who had an international hit in 2001 with the title Wasting My Time from their first album ( The Fallout ). By their break in 2011, the band had released four studio albums.
history
The band was discovered by Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger , who then both produced the first album and worked as a co-author. The very first single, Wasting My Time , became the band's most successful to date: The single was not only in the charts in the United States, but also in Great Britain, Australia and the Netherlands, for example. The second single, Deny achieved a similar airplay, but could not place itself in the official charts. The second album Elocation was also produced by Chad Kroeger, but did not reach quite as high chart positions as its predecessor. With the third album, One Thing Remains , the focus was no longer so much on Kroeger's productions, the album became harder as a result. It was able to reach number 90 in the US charts in 2009. Due to the bankruptcy of the TVT Records label , Default released their fourth studio album entitled Comes and Goes in 2009 on EMI . It wasn't until over a year later, in October 2010, that the album was released in the USA. In 2011 the band announced that they would be taking a break in favor of Dallas Smith's solo career. In September 2013 the band confirmed again that they had not broken up, but that the individual members were busy with other projects. Lead singer Dallas Smith has released two solo albums and an EP since the temporary separation, while bassist Dave Benedict is a singer in a band called Citizens Unite .
useful information
Several of the band's songs were used in Electronic Arts video games , including Deny in NHL 2003 . The Memory Will Never Die from the album One Thing Remains was the theme song for Wrestlemania 23. The title Blind was on the soundtrack of the first Spider Man film, in which Chad Kroeger sang the theme song Hero .
