It was Lavigne's first release since her contract with LA Reids Epic Records in 2011. In a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest on the wake of the single's release, Lavigne announced that her new album would be out in the summer of that year.

In July 2013 it was announced that Avril Lavigne's new album will be called Avril Lavigne and will be released in the US on November 5th. The second single, Rock n Roll , was released on August 27, 2013.
