history

Three months after releasing her fourth album Goodbye Lullaby in 2011, Avril Lavigne announced that work on her fifth studio album has already begun. Eight songs have been written so far. The new album is supposed to be the musical opposite of Goodbye Lullaby . Lavigne said, “ Goodbye Lullaby is a more mature album, but the next one should be more pop and fun. I already have a song that could be released as a single, I just need to record it again! ”A little later, in July 2011, Lavigne revealed the titles of two songs on her fifth album: Fine and Gone . These tracks were originally recorded for Goodbye Lullaby but did not make it into the final selection for the album. Lavigne's fifth album is said to be released "much earlier than expected", but an exact time has not been announced by Lavigne or her label.

In October 2011 Lavigne confirmed her move to the Epic Records label , which is currently managed by her discoverer Antonio "LA" Reid.

In September 2012, LA Reid announced that the album would be released in late 2012 or early 2013.

In late 2012, two songs, How You Remind Me / Bad Reputation , were released as a promo single in Japan. The songs were part of the soundtrack to the new Japanese animated feature film One Piece Z . (The song How You Remind Me was later included on the Japanese and Taiwanese editions and on the digital " Extended Version " of the album.)

In April 2013 in a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest on the train of the release of the single Here's to Never Growing Up , Lavigne announced that the album would be released in the summer. She announced a joint recording with Marilyn Manson and an "aggressive" song about Hello Kitty . On May 9, 2013, the music video for Here's to Never Growing Up was released.

In July 2013 it was announced that their new album was called Avril Lavigne and would be released in the US on November 5th of the same year. The second single, Rock n Roll , was released on August 27, 2013.
