eMOTIVe is the third music album by the US progressive rock band A Perfect Circle . It was released on November 1, 2004, one day before the US presidential election .
background
The album contains only two new songs, of which only one is newly written: "Passive". The song, which was originally called "Vacant", was written by Keenan as part of the Tapeworm project with Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor , but never came out after the project was abandoned . The other previously unknown track "Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums" is a reinterpretation of the song "Pet" from the last album Thirteenth Step . The remaining songs are cover versions of titles from the peace movement of the 1960s and 1970s.
A Perfect Circle appeals to the listeners several times, calling for action or decision:
“I'll say it again in the land of the free. Use your freedom of choice ”
“In the land of the free, I'll say it again. Use your freedom of choice. "
"It's your choice, your choice, your choice, your choice ... Peace or annihilation"
"It's your choice ... peace or annihilation [of humanity]"
The song "Counting Bodies like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums" was used in the soundtrack for the computer game Rage , the song "Passive" in the soundtrack for the film Constantine .
