Chris Vrenna (born February 23, 1967 in Erie , Pennsylvania ) is an American record producer , drummer and sound engineer . He was u. a. Member of the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails and publishes his works as a soloist under the name Tweaker . He played drums and keyboards with Marilyn Manson .

Career

Chris Vrenna grew up in the small town of Erie, Pennsylvania and has been playing drums since he was six. He attended high school in Cleveland , Ohio , and played there in 1986 with his roommate Trent Reznor in the band Exotic Birds . In the late 80s he came to Chicago and came into contact with the local post-industrial scene and played a. a. in bands like Die Warzau , KMFDM and Stabbing Westward . He worked in 1989 after the release of Pretty Hate Machine by Nine Inch Nails as a live drummer of the band again with Trent Reznor together. This collaboration lasted until 1996; During this time he worked as a drummer and programmer on the studio recordings Broken and The Downward Spiral . He can be seen briefly in the music video for The Perfect Drug , as well as in the video collection Closure .

In 1996, he left Nine Inch Nails to focus on his solo career. He has released two solo albums under the name Tweaker . In addition, Vrenna has made a name for itself as a music producer and remixer . In these functions he worked for u. a. U2 , Weezer , POD , David Bowie , Hole , Rob Zombie , Green Day and the Wallflowers . In 1997 he worked as a programmer for the Smashing Pumpkins and together with them received the Grammy for best hard rock act for his work on the song The End Is the Beginning Is the End . During this time he was also invited by Axl Rose to become a member of Guns N 'Roses ; However, he decided against working with this band.

In addition to his work as a producer and remixer, he is also active as a composer.
