The Wallflowers (Engl. The Wallflower ) is a rock band from Los Angeles , California . She was founded in 1990 and released her debut album of the same name in 1992 . The band currently consists of Bob Dylan's youngest son Jakob Dylan ( guitar and vocals ), Jack Irons ( drums ), Rami Jaffee ( keyboard ), Stuart Mathis (guitar) and Greg Richling ( bass ). Musically, the band is based on greats like Bruce Springsteen , Tom Petty , Van Morrison , Counting Crows or The Clash . From this she developed her own style, which is composed of elements of rock , country and pop .
Career
With their 1996 album Bringing Down The Horse and the accompanying titles One Headlight and 6th Avenue Heartache , the band made their breakthrough. It was followed by the hit single Heroes , a cover version of the song written by David Bowie , which was used in the soundtrack for the film Godzilla .
One Headlight made it to number 2 on the American Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Wallflowers received two awards at the 1998 Grammy Awards . The band received a Grammy for the best performance by a duo or a group with vocals in the rock category and another Grammy for One Headlight for best rock song .
After almost four years, the Wallflowers released their next album. Breach contained the singles Sleepwalker and Letters from the Wasteland .
In November 2002 the band released their fourth studio album, Red Letter Days (RLD). RLD was the first Wallflowers album on which singer Jakob Dylan did a large part of the guitar parts himself. RLD was much more aggressive in sound than the previous albums. The single When You're on Top became a hit on American AAA radio stations. However, the sales of the album could not match those of its predecessors.
In May 2005 the Wallflowers released the CD Rebel, Sweetheart . The album was produced by Brendan O 'Brien.
After the record contract with the Interscope label had expired, the band members initially concentrated on other projects. Keyboardist Rami Jaffee went on tour with the Foo Fighters , the then drummer Fred Eltringham worked with the Dixie Chicks and band leader Jakob Dylan made a name for himself as a solo artist with two critically acclaimed acoustic folk albums: In 2008 Dylan's solo album Seeing Things was released , Women + Country was released in April 2010 .
In January 2012, The Wallflowers went into the studio to record their new album. The album was released in October 2012 and is entitled Glad All Over .
