Patience (English for: " Patience ") is a song by the American hard rock band Guns N 'Roses from 1988. It appeared on the album G N' R Lies . Patience is one with Western guitars played rock - ballad . The piece was released as a single in March 1989and reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 38 on the German charts.

Emergence

The song is played with three western guitars and was recorded in a session with producer Mike Clink . A music video was also made, which was also featured on the Welcome to the Videos DVD . According to Slash, the music and lyrics come from Izzy Stradlin , and Axl Rose added the vocal melody. According to Duff McKagan , Rose wrote the lyrics and the melody came "out of nowhere". Drummer Steven Adler did not take part. Still, he can be seen in the music video, for the last time in a video for Guns N 'Roses before he left the band. Clink can also be seen in the video.

The lyric me in the lyrics asks the loved one to be patient and take it slow before the two of them get together.

Plagiarism allegation

Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon later claimed that Guns N 'Roses took the song over from a demo song by his band called Better Off Without You . The piece is identical “note for note”.

Cover versions

Carrie Underwood began playing the song live in 2006. Finger Eleven and Velvet Revolver played the song in 2007. Slash also played the song live. Aaron Lewis von Staind , John Mayer and Maroon 5 did the same . There is also a jazz cover by Sawa Kobayashi . A parody called Patients was recorded by the band ApologetiX .
