Viva Voce is a five-person a cappella ensemble from Ansbach in Bavaria .

history

Viva Voce was founded in 1998 by members of the Windsbacher Boys Choir . The repertoire of the then four singers (Bastian Hupfer, David Lugert, Matthias Lutze, Thomas Schimm) was initially limited to four-part male choir pieces by Friedrich Silcher , Billy Joel and the Comedian Harmonists .

Jörg Schwartzmanns (née Fischer) has been a member of the band since 2001 and from then on the five singers developed their own style of music, which they describe as "Vox-Pop". In 2003 Viva Voce switched to the professional music business. In 2004 Heiko Benjes joined as bass . In 2009 Mateusz Phouthavong replaced the baritone Thomas Schimm, who now works in the management of Viva Voce. This resulted in the artist agency VIVO , which looks after VIVA VOCE as well as other artists. Phouthavong left the band in mid-2017, and in his place came the Passau singer and singing teacher Matthias Hofmann as the second baritone.

From 2017 to 2019 Viva Voce moderated the songs on Banz , and they also sang a few pieces themselves. In 2018 they celebrated their 20th stage anniversary with a tour.
