25 Years of Songs on a Summer Evening is a live album on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Songs on a summer evening in 2011.
Emergence
Ado Schlier , the director of the festival, writes in the foreword of the booklet to this double CD, how the Bavarian broadcasting company tried in recent years to include hits and folk music in the "songs", which he was able to prevent. He thanks the audience that they played despite sometimes severe storms and correspondingly long interruptions. At this concert there was a roof over the stage for the first time.
While the highlights of the 2011 anniversary concert can be heard on the first CD, the second CD introduces “The new ones - the best of 25 years”. By then, well over 5,000 songwriters from German-speaking countries had applied for this. Every year five soloists and groups were allowed to present themselves to the audience of the festival.
