I'll Be There for You is a song by Bon Jovi in 1989, that of Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora was written. It appeared on the album New Jersey .

history

Since Bon Jovi (and Glam Metal at the time) was at its peak at this time, the song quickly hit the charts, reaching # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 , becoming their fourth and final number one hit in the United States States. It is also the only number one hit that Desmond Child was not involved in. I'll Be There for You is a classic of the power ballads and musically represents a transition to the songs from the albums Keep the Faith and These Days . The release was on April 4th, 1989.

Some believed based on the verse that the song was based on the Beatles' 1969 classic Don't Let Me Down , and others believed the chorus was taken from a Joe Ellis song. Ellis said in an interview that Lehua Reed (Richie Sambora's ex-fiancé) confronted him with anecdotes from Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. Among other things, that they sat for hours at the piano, also used a box of cassettes for inspiration and, coincidentally, songs by Joe Ellis were there too.

Sambora also sang the song at various concerts.

Music video

In the music video, Bon Jovi play the song on a stage, and close-ups of each member can be seen. However, one sees Richie Sambora's face more in the shadow. In some cases, scenes from another concert that were filmed in the Wembley Arena , London and in black and white photography are also shown .
