Do not Let Me Down ( English Do not leave me hanging ) is a song by British band The Beatles in 1969. It was composed by John Lennon , however, is under the copyright of Lennon / McCartney .

On the Beatles' last album Let It Be , Lennon was only represented with one composition of his own ( Dig a Pony ) . However, Don't Let Me Down was also produced during the recording sessions for Let It Be . In terms of content, Lennon deals with his love affair with Yoko Ono in the song .

The recording sessions for the album Let It Be were filmed in early 1969 at Twickenham Film Studios, London . This is where the first versions of Don't Let Me Down were made . On January 21, 1969, the song was recorded again, this time in the Beatles' own Apple Studio. The song was produced by George Martin , assisted by Glyn Johns . A new recording from the following day should appear on the album Get Back , which ultimately remained unreleased. On the following days, other versions were created, of which the one from January 28, 1969 was ultimately selected for publication on the B-side of the single Get Back . On the later album Let It Be was Do not Let Me Down ignored.

On January 30, 1969, the Beatles played their last concert on the roof of their studio. Here they played Don't Let Me Down twice. A compilation of these two performances was released in 2003 on the album Let It Be… Naked .

Don't Let Me Down was released in the UK on April 11, 1969 on the B-side of the single Get Back . In later years the song was featured on the Beatles compilations Hey Jude , Past Masters and the so-called Blue Album .

As of almost all Beatles songs, countless cover versions were published, including by Marcia Griffiths , Ben E. King , Phoebe Snow , Annie Lennox , Stereophonics , Matchbox Twenty and Paul Weller .
