The Beatles' Hits is an EP released on September 6, 1963 by the British rock band The Beatles . It was the Beatles' second EP to be released on Parlophone (catalog number GEP 8880). Four songs had previously been available on singles , two also on the album Please Please Me . The EP was only released in mono .

Originally, The Beatles 'hits from her record company as the first EP-release of the Beatles provided, but the demand for the Beatles' version of Twist and Shout caused a postponement of the deadline. Instead, Twist and Shout hit stores first and set sales records. The second EP was released later than planned, in September instead of July 1963. Although it did not reach the sales figures of the first EP, it still took first place on the EP charts of the Record Retailer for three weeks . The Beatles' Hits stayed in the EP charts for a total of 43 weeks, including 19 weeks in the top 3. In the singles charts, the EP came to number 14 in the Melody Maker and to number 17 in the New Musical Express (NME).

In Germany, the EP was released on September 20, 1963, also under the name The Beatles Hits (catalog number: Odeon O 41598), with a different cover .

The cover photo was taken by Angus McBean, who also took the cover photo of the album Please Please Me .

Three songs from this EP were released as the A-sides of the first three British Beatles singles. Thank You Girl was the B-side of the third single.

    • Third use of the piece, but only the second release of this version. This is not the A-side version of the first British single (B-side: PS I Love You ), but the version that was released as track 1 from page 2 of the album Please Please Me . The main difference between the versions is that in the single version Ringo Starr played the drums, while in the album version the recording with the studio musician Andy White was used.
1) McCartney was named first in the early Beatles' releases. Only on the single She Loves You did the name change to Lennon / McCartney.

Re-releases

The EP The Beatles' Hits was pressed into the 1970s. In December 1981, the EP was released as part of the The Beatles EPs Collection box set , which included all UK EPs. On May 26, 1992, this set was released with the slightly changed title The Beatles Compact Disc EP. Collection as CD edition.
