Emergence
Shortly before Christmas 1964, Capitol Records decided to release Beatles '65 , another stand-alone album, largely based on the British album Beatles for Sale . The British album Beatles for Sale was only released on CD on July 21, 1987 in the USA .
Beatles '65 was the sixth studio album released in the US (all six albums were released in 1964 plus a documentary album) and reached number one on the US Billboard 200 for nine weeks, making it fourth number-one -Album of the Beatles. On January 9, 1965, eight Beatles albums were in the US charts: Beatles '65 (No. 1), A Hard Day's Night (No. 6), The Beatles' Story (No. 7), Something New (No. 13) , Meet the Beatles! (69th place), The Beatles' Second Album (70th place), Songs, Pictures & Stories of the Fabulous Beatles (138th place) and Introducing… The Beatles (146th place). In January 1997, the album was certified multi-platinum in the US for three million copies sold.
The Beatles '65 album contains eight songs from the British album Beatles for Sale . The album also contains the two songs from the current and sixth US number 1 single I Feel Fine / She's a Woman and I'll Be Back from the British album A Hard Day's Night .
The album was released in the USA in a mono and a stereo version.
The mono version of She's a Woman was shortened and echo was added, the mono version of I Feel Fine also used reverb. These two mixes were made by George Martin on October 21, 1964 specifically for the US market. The mono version of the album also contains a different mix of the song I'll Be Back . The songs I Feel Fine and She's a Woman were mixed in fake stereo for the stereo version of the album.
In Germany the album was only distributed in stereo mix.
The Beatles '65 album was also released in Canada .
