The song was originally called 'Thank You Little Girl' and was supposed to be the new A-side of a single , but was later swapped for From Me to You .

The recording was made on Tuesday, March 5, 1963 in Studio 2 of Abbey Road Studios . A total of 13 takes were recorded. On March 13th, the harmonica part was added in 15 takes. Producer was George Martin , sound engineer Norman Smith ; on March 13th was Geoff Emerick's second sound engineer .

In Germany the single From Me to You / Thank You Girl was published on April 8, 1963 (Odeon O 22 416), in Great Britain only on April 11 (Parlophone R 5015). The title was also released in Germany on the EP The Beatles Hits (Odeon O 41 598) in September 1963 and on the LP The Beatles Beat (Odeon O 83 692) on April 15, 1964.
