Blaze of Glory is a song by Jon Bon Jovi from 1990. It is the title track of the album of the same name, which is also the soundtrack to the film Blaze of Glory . This is his most successful solo single and reached in the United States and in Australia a platinum award . At the same time, Jon Bon Jovi received a Golden Globe Award for the song and was nominated for an Oscar .
background
Jon Bon Jovi met Emilio Estevez , the leading actor in the neo-western Blaze of Glory . He wanted the Bon Jovi single Wanted Dead or Alive from the 1986 album Slippery When Wet as the title track for the soundtrack. The song had served, among other things, screenwriter John Fusco as the inspiration for the sequel to Young Guns . But the more Jon Bon Jovi thought about it, a song about his band's madness on tour seemed inappropriate for a western. Instead, he offered to write the theme song Blaze of Glory . However, the more he became familiar with the script, the more ideas he had until he finally recorded the entire soundtrack for the film in a little under two months.
In addition to the title track of the album, the song was later released as the only Jon Bon Jovi solo song on the Bon Jovi Best of Cross Road (1994). A live version is on the DVD Live from London (1995), recorded there by the Bon Jovi cast as well as Hugh McDonald and Steven Van Zandt . It also appeared on Bon Jovi's 2010 album Greatest Hits , also as the only solo song.
occupation
Jon Bon Jovi resisted seeing the album as a solo project because he was not free to design the individual songs, but the soundtrack and thus the main single was created without the participation of his main band Bon Jovi . He had hired guest stars for this. Thus, on Blaze of Glory , among others, Jeff Beck on lead guitar and Aldo Nova to listen to various instruments.
