Josiah Gordon Scurlock

Josiah Gordon "Doc" Scurlock (born January 11, 1849 in Tallapoosa County , Alabama , † July 25, 1929 in Eastland , Texas ) was a cowboy and gunslinger in the American West in the second half of the 19th century. The nickname "Doc" resulted from the presumed fact that he had studied medicine in New Orleans for a time.

Scurlock belonged to the group of " regulators " during the Lincoln County Cattle War along with Billy the Kid , Charlie Bowdre, Jose Chavez y Chavez and other gunslingers . Later he distanced himself from his previous way of life, left New Mexico and settled in Texas , where he died in 1929 at the set age.

He was played by Kiefer Sutherland in the films Young Guns (1988) and Blaze of Glory (1990) .
