Eastland is the county capital and seat of the county seat of Eastland County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located north of Interstate 20 in the north of the county, north of the geographic center of Texas.

According to the 2000 census, 3,769 people in 1,475 households and 998 families lived here. The population density was 514.2 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 91.64% White, 1.80% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, and 4.67% other ethnic groups. About 1.17% were mixed race and 12.89% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 1,475 households, 33.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 53.2% of these were married couples living together. 10.8% were single mothers and 32.3% were non-families. 29.4% of all households were single households and there were people living in 15.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.04.

25.7% of the population were under 18 years old, 9.1% 18 to 24, 25.2% 25 to 44, 20.2% 45 to 64, and 19.8% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 89.6 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 85.2 men.

The median income for a household in the 28,277 USD , and the median income for a family 34,333 USD. Males had a median income of $ 27,072 versus $ 16,574 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,339. 17.0% of the population and 14.2% of families are below the poverty line. Of these, 25.0% were children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 12.7% were 65 or older.
