Alexandra Liedtke (* 1979 in Dortmund ) is a German theater and opera director .

career

Liedtke studied theater, film and television studies and sociology at the Universities of Erlangen and Bochum . She then worked at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg and the Schauspielhaus Bochum, among others . From 2000 to 2003 she directed the underground theater in Bochum . Her earliest directorial work included Rozznjogd by Peter Turrini (2002), Pizza Pazza and A Lonely Hearts Club Band in Bochum (2003).

Liedtke's production of Neil LaButes The Measure of Things at the Salzburg State Theater in the 2011 season was nominated for the Nestroy Theater Prize in the category "Best State Performance". Alexandra Liedtke has been staging regularly at the Theater in der Josefstadt since 2010 . She made her debut as an opera director at the Salzburg Festival in 2012 with Das Labyrinth or The Battle with the Elements by Peter von Winter and Emanuel Schikaneder .

In the 2017/2018 season she made her debut at the Vienna State Opera with Camille Saint-Saëns Samson et Dalila . This staging work was accompanied by Stephanus Domanig in the documentary film Backstage Wiener Staatsoper . In the 2015/2016 academic year, she took on a teaching position for acting at the Mozarteum University .

She premiered pieces by Florian Zeller , Thomas Vinterberg , Bernhard Lang and Michael Sturminger , among others . She now works equally for opera and drama.

Alexandra Liedtke is married to the German director Matthias Hartmann .
