7800 ° Fahrenheit is the second studio album by the American rock band Bon Jovi . It was released in April 1985.
background
The title of the album comes from the fact that singer Jon Bon Jovi estimated the melting temperature of stone ( English "rock" , therefore synonymous with rock music ) at 7800 ° Fahrenheit , which corresponds to a temperature of about 4315 ° Celsius . Since the Fahrenheit unit is used almost exclusively in the United States, the title should mean something like American Hot Rock . With the song Secret Dreams , the only Bon Jovi song to date is included on this album. Drummer Tico Torres was also involved in the writing process. The “classic” band logo, which is still widely used today, is introduced on the cover of the album.

Interesting facts about the 2010 Special Edition
- Only two of the three live recordings added to the 2010 Special Edition are known to have been recorded during the 7800 ° Fahrenheit tour. The live versions of “In and Out of Love” and “Only Lonely” are therefore not the same live recordings that are included on the bonus CD of the Japanese Special Edition from 1998. Only the live recording of "Tokyo Road" was already on the bonus CD from 1998 and can therefore be dated: The live recording was made in 1985 in the Shibuya Public Hall in Tokyo. The recording of “Only Lonely” contained here is not a live recording in front of an audience, but rather a soundcheck recording.
Varia
In the intro of the 6th track "Tokyo Roads" you can hear the Japanese folk song "Sakura Sakura", referring to the church blossom as a symbol of Tokyo.
reception
The album has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide to date, but very few copies went over the counter before the commercial breakthrough with Slippery When Wet . At the time of publication, the sales were rather low and did not meet Bon Jovi's expectations. Nevertheless, with 7800 degrees Fahrenheit , the band laid the musical foundation for their third album Slippery When Wet , with which they made their commercial breakthrough.
