The Clumber Spaniel is an FCI recognized British breed of dog ( FCI Group 8, Section 2, Standard No. 109 ).

Origin and history

The origin of the Clumber Spaniel is not clear, it is said to be a very old breed , which is said to have been kept in a kennel by the Duke of Newcastle at Clumber Castle in the 18th century and can be seen in a painting in 1788. The breed was very popular in England in the 19th century, but became rarer from 1930 onwards. The Clumber Spaniel is an English punt dog used in both duck hunting and pheasant and snipe hunting.

The massive dog , which weighs up to 34 kg, is a good companion for the hunter.

The hair is plentiful, thick, silky and straight, a solid white color on the body, with lemon-colored markings; orange badges are allowed. The ears are large, vine-leaf-shaped, well covered with straight hair, drooping slightly forward.
