Billy Powell
William Norris "Billy" Powell (born June 3, 1952 in Corpus Christi , Texas , † January 28, 2009 in Orange Park , Florida ) was an American keyboardist .
Powell was best known as the musician of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd , for which he initially worked as a roadie, but later became a permanent member of the group. After the temporary end of the group after the tragic plane crash in 1977, Powell survived with severe facial injuries, he worked temporarily as a keyboardist for various other bands, but without major success. From 1987 until his death he was keyboardist with Lynyrd Skynyrd again.
Powell died of heart failure in January 2009 at the age of 56.
