nano is a cross-border popular science television program with reports, documentaries and current news from science and technology . The program is produced in cooperation with the television companies ARD , ZDF , ORF and SRF .

The broadcast began on December 1, 1999. The program is broadcast Monday to Friday from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm on 3sat and is repeated at 7:00 am (Friday broadcast on Saturday) and at 9:45 am (Friday broadcast on Monday).

The moderators of "nano" are Ingolf Baur , Yve Fehring , Alexandra Kröber and Gregor Steinbrenner and occasionally Stefan Schulze-Hausmann . Former presenters of the show are Angela Elis (1999–2007) and Kristina zur Mühlen (2007–2017). The program is produced live on tape , i.e. in the studios of the ZDF ( broadcasting center 2 ) in Mainz in the form of an (uncut) pre-recording on the respective broadcast day.
