Kristina zur Mühlen (born March 23, 1969 in Berlin-Mitte ) is a German journalist , television presenter and graduate physicist .

Life

Kristina zur Mühlen grew up in Kleinmachnow near Berlin as the oldest of three siblings. Her interest in astronomy led her to Thuringia to study physics at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena (1987–1993). She graduated in the field of laser physics . She also studied Georgian, literature and history (1989-1993) and lived in Tbilisi ( Georgia ) for several months .

From 1993 she reported as a freelance journalist for TV magazines for various ARD channels. After holding positions at Saarländischer Rundfunk , MDR , HR , Deutsche Welle , ZDF and Sat.1 , she completed an internship at ORB from 1994 to 1996 .

She first appeared in front of the camera in 2002 and moderated the regional magazine Hamburg Journal on NDR television . In 2004 she switched to the ARD digital program EinsExtra . Under the slogan “News every quarter of an hour”, she presented the news program EinsExtra Aktuell , which is produced by the Tagesschau editorial team in Hamburg and was renamed tagesschau24 on May 1, 2012 , where she moderated until 2016. During the Fukushima reactor disaster in March 2011 Kristina zur Mühlen moderated several extra issues of the tagesschau . From March 2012 to 2016 she read the news of the Tagesschau in the mornings. In WDR television physicist in 2006 presented the bi-weekly broadcast Knowledge Magazine Q 21 , in December 2006 in favor of the program Quarks & Co has been set. In 2006, she also presented the regional magazine Lokalzeit from Aachen on WDR television .

From 2007 to June 2017, she moderated the science magazine nano on 3sat .

Kristina zur Mühlen is also an ambassador for child protection at the German Society for Prevention and Intervention in Child Abuse and Neglect (DGfPI).
