Life

Mona Vetsch grew up as a farmer's daughter in the village of Hattenhausen in the canton of Thurgau . After dropping out of business studies at the University of St. Gallen , she began working as a journalist for the Thurgauer Zeitung and Radio Thurgau , but in 1997 switched to editing and moderating the SF 2 youth program Oops! .

In 2005 she studied political science and sociology at the University of Zurich alongside her 60% job at Radio DRS 3 . Since then she has also worked as a columnist for various Swiss newspapers and magazines such as Aargauer Zeitung , Berner Zeitung , Facts , Weltwoche and WOZ .

She edited the radio programs Der Morgen (formerly Vitamin 3 ) and Focus on Radio SRF 3 . For Swiss television she moderated the programs of the SF Spezial editorial team, in particular the summer travel program SF Spezial Fernweh and the SF Spezial long-term reports (including Lauberhorn 2005 and EURO 2008 ). From January 2012 she moderated the discussion program Der Club (alongside Karin Frei ) on SRF 1 .

Earlier programs by Mona Vetsch on Swiss television included the entertainment show PISA - Battle of the Cantons (alongside Ueli Schmezer ), the travel show Simply Luxurious and the Quer magazine (as a substitute for Patrick Rohr ).

In March 2006, a “cheeky” report by Mona Vetsch about Kassel and Saarbrücken led to an intervention by the Lord Mayor of Kassel, Bertram Hilgen , to a rejection of twelve people from a booked trip to Zurich and hundreds of negative, sometimes spiteful letters to the editor. On the other hand, this report has already drawn increased attention to these cities and invitations to the Rhine for night watchman tours and hikes on the dyke hiking trail.
