Ueli Schmezer (born July 22, 1961 in Bern ) is a Swiss journalist , presenter and musician . He is best known to the Swiss audience through the program Kassensturz , which is broadcast weekly on SRF 1 .

Life

Schmezer studied German and English at the secondary school in Bern and then economics at the University of Bern without graduating. In 1984 he became editor and presenter at Swiss Radio SRF 3 , where he stayed until 1995, and began to work for various print media. In 1985 he attended the Ringier School of Journalism for one year . At Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen SRF he is the editor and presenter of the program Kassensturz and has worked for the programs Hear we go , Fernrohr , Seismo , Zischtigsclub , Time out , Kassensturz , PISA - Kampf der Kantons , SRF Spezial and In Concert .

Schmezer celebrated his first successes as a musician in the mid-1980s under the pseudonym Jules with the Italo disco titles I Want To and You and Me . In 2001 he released the album Chinderland with children's songs. Together with Mats Küpfer, Michel Poffet and Lucas Stähli, Ueli Schmezer forms the band “MatterLive”, which reinterprets Mani Matter's Bern German chansons and released an album each in 2004 and 2006. In 2009 his dialect rock album Himustärnehimu was released .

Ueli Schmezer is married and has three sons. His father is the writer Guido Schmezer ( Ueli the writer ).
