Patrick Rohr (born May 4, 1968 in Glarus ) is a former Swiss television presenter . He is the head of his own communications consultancy company in Zurich and works as a photographer.

Patrick Rohr was born on May 4th, 1968 in Glarus. He grew up in Zermatt , Netstal and Brig . He graduated from high school in Brig and then studied six semesters of German , media and political science at the University of Bern . From 1992 to 2007 he worked as an editor and presenter for various programs on Swiss television. Today he runs his own company for communications consulting (Patrick Rohr Kommunikation GmbH) in Zurich. Rohr lives with his partner in Zurich and Amsterdam. They got married on August 27, 2009.

journalism

He started working as a journalist when he was 14 years old. He wrote articles for the youth forum of the Glarner Nachrichten newspaper and worked as a reporter for the local section.

After his family moved back to Brig in the canton of Valais in 1983 , he headed the youth forum for the weekly supplement Walliser Spiegel des Walliser Boten until 1988 and wrote for the local section of the newspaper. From 1985 to 1988 he also moderated the weekly hit parade and the radio-aktiv youth program on the local radio station Radio Matterhorn in Zermatt.

During his studies he wrote as a freelance journalist for the SonntagsZeitung , the Blick and the Walliser Bote. In 1990 he was part of the founding team of the Upper Valais local broadcaster Radio Rottu , where he worked as an editor and presenter for two years after dropping out of his studies.

In 1992 he switched to the Swiss television daily TAF in Zurich, where he worked as an editor and presenter for two years. In 1994 he joined the team of the information magazine Schweiz aktuell , which he also moderated from 1995.

On November 1, 1999, Patrick Rohr replaced Filippo Leutenegger in the political broadcast Arena as moderator and editor-in-chief. On August 23, 2002, he succeeded Röbi Koller as the presenter of the society magazine “Quer” on Swiss television. He moderated this program until it was discontinued in March 2007.

In February 2007, Rohr founded his own company, Patrick Rohr Kommunikation GmbH , based in Zurich, which specializes in communication concepts, media training, rhetoric courses and journalistic products.

From February 2012 to December 2015 he trained as a documentary and portrait photographer at the Photo Academy Amsterdam. He graduated with the multimedia project Bloody Serious - Trying To Understand The Difficult Search For A Ukrainian Identity . Today he works as a photo journalist, among others for Helvetas, Swiss Solidarity, Ruedi Lüthy Foundation, Support Network and also travels to many countries for freelance work, especially in Africa and Asia (e.g. documentation focus on Japan ).

  • 2007: TELE audience award as "Most Popular TV Presenter in Switzerland"

Other professional activities

From 2007 to 2014 Patrick Rohr produced and moderated the discussion program Basler Zeitung Standpunkte as part of PresseTV on SRF1.

From 2005 to 2011, he trained journalists in interview techniques at the media training center in Lucerne.

Patrick Rohr was involved in the campaign for one another for AIDS-Hilfe Schweiz .
