Radio Swiss Pop (formerly Swiss Light ) is a music station of Swiss Satellite Radio , a division of SRG SSR , the public broadcaster in Switzerland. The program reaches over 800,000 people every day throughout Switzerland. From 1956 to 1998 it was a special program of the existing Swiss telephone slogan . Radio Swiss Pop's sister programs are Radio Swiss Classic and Radio Swiss Jazz .

At the beginning of March 2020, the SRG announced that the radio station Swiss Pop will be sold and will be operated by BNJ Suisse SA, based in western Switzerland, from September 2020.

Music program

Radio Swiss Pop brings popular pop music non-stop. The music program is broadcast entirely without moderation, verbatim contributions and advertising. This is why the program is also used as background irrigation in shops, restaurants and bars. The tracks played can be viewed on the website. According to Swiss Pop, the proportion of Swiss music averages 50 percent. The program is ad-free.

The program can be received in Switzerland via cable and DAB , throughout Europe via the Eutelsat Hotbird satellite in DVB mode and worldwide via the Internet in the form of a live stream. The previous broadcast on Astra Digital Radio has been discontinued. In South Tyrol , Radio Swiss Pop is broadcast by the Südtirol broadcaster in the DAB + standard.

Listeners

With 808,880 listeners a day in Switzerland, Radio Swiss Pop is the most popular program on Swiss Satellite Radio ( Mediapulse, figures for the 2nd semester of 2019). The average listening time is around 32 minutes.

From September 2020, the station will be operated by BNJ Suisse SA, based in French-speaking Switzerland. The BNJ group operates the four regional radios Radio RJB, Radio RTN, Radio RFJ and Radio GRRIF in the canton of Jura . The BNJ Group will continue to run Radio Swiss Pop with the conditions defined by the SRG. Radio Swiss Pop remains unmoderated, will continue to contain at least 50 percent Swiss music and broadcast a maximum of four minutes of advertising per hour. Radio Swiss Pop should also continue to be receivable via DAB + throughout Switzerland.
