World Radio Switzerland (WRS) is the only English-language radio program in Switzerland. The broadcaster works with the BBC World Service for international news .

history

The station went on the air as World Radio Geneva in 1996 and could be received on VHF in the Geneva and Lake Geneva area . Since 2007, World Radio Switzerland has also been receivable across Switzerland via DAB + , cable , satellite and Swisscom TV as well as internationally via the Internet .

World Radio Switzerland was operated in Geneva by SRG SSR and has worked for international news with the BBC World Service and, since October 2010, with National Public Radio , American Public Media and Public Radio International.

In June 2012, SRG SSR announced that it wanted to part with World Radio Switzerland. Today the station belongs to Anglo Media Group SA , a Swiss media company based in Geneva. In September 2013, World Radio Switzerland was taken over by the Anglo Media Group.
