Couleur 3 is a public service, advertising-free radio program from Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) and thus also part of SRG SSR . It is aimed at a young target group. Couleur 3 has not only specialized in pop-rock music, but also offers (partly in special programs) a spectrum from heavy metal to ambient trance, which can vary quickly for the average taste. Swiss and French-speaking bands are also given special attention when choosing music. The proportion of words, which is largely French-speaking, increases to around a third in satirical and more literary radio play programs (e.g. Les Griottes ), but is otherwise rather low for French-speaking conditions at around a quarter.

Particularly noteworthy (because of its high level of representation for the station) is the program La Planète Bleue (The Blue Planet), a kind of radio play music program that is critical of political and civilization and with varying environmental or ethnological topics. The earth is seen as a living being ( Gaia hypothesis ) and examined for various disorders in connection with human effects on the earth as an organism. The choice of music for ethnological topics is focused on the relevant cultural area.

In Germany, couleur 3 is restricted ( Radio Dreyeckland on 104.6 MHz from Mulhouse can cause interference) also in the Markgräflerland to the southern Kaiserstuhl and occasionally on the Upper Rhine to 104.8 MHz (station Les Ordons ), at high altitudes ( Black Forest ) with good Conditions also audible via the Chasseral transmitter (104.2 MHz). Couleur 3 can also be received via DAB in parts of German-speaking Switzerland . Couleur 3 is broadcast across Europe via satellite from Eutelsat Hotbird (position 13 ° East) in the SRG-SSR package. Couleur 3 can be heard worldwide via web streaming.

In France , it was legally broadcast as a private broadcaster until 2009, and it was advertised. Outside the actual transmission area ( western Switzerland ) there were further VHF transmitters in Lyon , Chambéry , Grenoble and Chamonix , so that the program could also be received in large parts of the French region of Rhône-Alpes . The program broadcast in France differed mainly in advertising and in a few program parts from the Swiss version.

The studios of Couleur 3 are located in Lausanne .
