Localization of Baden-Württemberg in Germany

The Feldberg transmitter is an 82 meter high television tower that went into operation in 2003 near the Feldberg summit .

Its 45 meter high predecessor building, which was in operation from 1955 to 2003, stands on the neighboring Seebuck and has been used as a viewing platform since it was closed.

history

The Feldberg in the Black Forest has been used as a basic network transmitter location for radio and television since the 1950s. For this purpose, the then Südwestfunk built a 45 m high television tower with a viewing platform at 36 m at 47 ° 51 ′ 52 ″  N , 8 ° 1 ′ 20 ″  E on Seebuck . Its pulpit diameter is 9.1 m. On December 20, 1955, he began broadcasting.

However, this television tower no longer met the radio requirements in the new millennium and so it was replaced by the SWR with a new 82 meter high reinforced concrete tower without a viewing platform at 47 ° 52 ′ 25 ″  N , 8 ° 0 ′ 15 ″  E on the Feldberg summit (commissioning summer 2003) after NATO abandoned its radio relay system at this point. The community successfully fought against the demolition of the old transmission tower, which (without antenna) is used as a lookout tower and has housed a museum for Black Forest ham since July 2013 . In addition, the 11th floor of the tower is used as a room for civil weddings. The old television tower is now called Feldberg Tower.

Frequencies and Programs

Analog radio (FM)

Due to its high location, the Feldberg supplies all of southern Baden and some parts of the Sigmaringen, Reutlingen and Tübingen regions. It can even be received at higher altitudes in Stuttgart and abroad, such as B. in Switzerland to the Bernese Oberland or in France.
