The Herzogstand transmitter is a transmitter that is located on the summit of the 1,627 meter high Fahrenbergkopf , 900 meters southeast of the Herzogstand summit , in the immediate vicinity of the Herzogstandbahn mountain station .
The transmitter system consists of a total of three free-standing tubular masts: two belong to Bayerischer Rundfunk , one used to broadcast radio and formerly television and the other to receive balls from a different transmitter location and for mobile communications. The third tube mast, however, belongs to the German radio tower and is used to broadcast private programs. The coverage area of the Herzogstand transmitter consists mainly of the Walchen and Kochel lakes and the northern foothills of the Alps .
