Transmitting systems on the Büttelberg

The transmitter Büttelberg (alternatively Büttelberg / Frankenhöhe ) on the Büttelberg has been the location of a transmitter (location 527  m above sea level ) for radio and television programs since 1952 . A 219 meter high guyed tubular steel mast has been used as the antenna carrier since 1969. From the transmission tower are FM , DAB and digital television ( DVB-T is transmitted). There are also three smaller transmission towers that serve for directional radio .

Five FM programs of the Bavarian Radio are broadcast from the Büttelberg . The VHF transmitting antenna is at a height of 170 to 194 meters above ground with a total of eight dipole levels .

The transmission antenna for digital television (DVB-T) is installed at 209 meters above ground. Before the introduction of DVB-T in the Nuremberg area, the supply of the analog television program via analog satellite reception or, during the regional program, via ball reception from the Dillberg transmitter was guaranteed.

Since December 1999 DAB digital radio has been broadcast on the Büttelberg.

Until September 2010, the program of the station " AFN Prime Atlantic " was also broadcast in the American TV standard NTSC for the US Army . The transmitter had only a low output, enough to supply the nearby barracks, and was not located on the Bavarian broadcasting mast, but on the directly adjacent US mast.

The BR location Büttelberg is not to be confused with the Telekom transmitter location Burgbernheim , which is about five kilometers northwest of the Büttelberg. From the Burgbernheim transmitter u. a. broadcast the program of the FM station Antenne Bayern .
