The Wesel transmitter was built in 1968 as a 320.8 meter high, guyed steel frame mast on Perricher Weg in Wesel - Perrich . The transmission system for broadcasting FM , digital radio (DAB) and television programs ( DVB-T ) is owned by the Telekom subsidiary Deutsche Funkturm (DFMG). The transmitter mast of the Wesel transmitter is the tallest structure in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Frequencies and Programs
Analog radio (VHF)
The most powerful FM transmitter is Deutschlandfunk (DLF) , which is broadcast from antennas at a height of 265 meters. The local program Radio KW broadcasts from a height of 150 meters. Both programs are operated by the network operator Uplink Network GmbH from Düsseldorf.
Digital radio (DAB)
DAB or the successor standard DAB + is broadcast in vertical polarization and in single-frequency mode with other transmitters.
The nationwide multiplex has been broadcast digitally on channel 5C via the Wesel station since December 14, 2015.
Previously, the multiplex radio for NRW with the programs of the WDR and the Domradio with a power of 1 kW ERP was transmitted from this location. On August 29, 2012, this multiplex changed from DAB channel 12D to DAB channel 11D. Due to an increase in performance at the neighboring Kleve station , the broadcast of this package on the Wesel station was discontinued in December 2013.

Digital television (DVB-T and DVB-T2)
Since the start of digital terrestrial television DVB-T , several bouquets with 50 kW each have been broadcast. Due to the proximity to the Dutch border, the main beam direction is 150 °.

DVB-T2 HD
Between May 20 and 31, 2016, DVB-T2 HD was broadcast in North Rhine-Westphalia. This allowed 6 programs to be received in multiplex mode, namely Das Erste HD, Pro Sieben HD, Sat 1 HD, RTL HD, Vox HD and ZDF HD via antenna on channel 43 with 50 kW from the Wesel broadcaster. Since March 29, 2017, at least 36 TV channels have been broadcast exclusively in HD format.
In addition to the Wesel transmission mast, there is the "Langer Heinrich" telecommunications tower built in 1983 on the other side of the Rhine in the Wesel city center .
Analog television (PAL)
Before the switch to DVB-T, the broadcasting location was used to broadcast analog television programs.
