The station Bonn-Venusberg is a transmitter of the West German Radio for FM , DAB , DVB-T and DVB-T2 HD on the Venusberg in Bonn . The broadcasting station Bonn-Venusberg uses a 180-meter-high self- radiating transmission mast as a transmitting antenna , which is guyed at 97 and 137 meters. It was erected in 1985 to replace a transmission mast from 1949 that was insulated from earth. In 2004 the mast was rebuilt. A long wire antenna was attached to the mast to broadcast medium wave broadcasts. The transmitter is the central WDR broadcaster for the Bonn / Rhein-Sieg region and the Cologne basin.

The medium wave transmitter was switched off on July 6, 2015.

On May 31, 2016, the broadcast of the high definition DVB-T2 HD began in North Rhine-Westphalia. Since then, Das Erste HD, Pro Sieben HD, Sat 1 HD, RTL HD, Vox HD and ZDF HD can be received via antenna on channel 43 with 20 kW from Venusberg.

Former analog television (PAL)

The transmission of analog television programs was already terminated on November 8, 2004 in connection with the introduction of DVB-T in the greater Cologne / Bonn area and in the Ruhr area. The analog TV station on channel 43 was switched off on May 24, 2004. Thereupon the program Das Erste was temporarily broadcast on channel 5 until November 8, 2004.
