The transmitter Drachenberg is located on the 313 meter high Drachenberg of the Elm . A 181 meter high, guyed steel lattice mast is used to broadcast radio programs on VHF and DAB . Furthermore, two further directional radio towers in steel framework construction were built there.

history

Originally, the transmitter mast erected in 1952 was used to broadcast the British Forces Broadcasting Service program for members of the British armed forces in the Braunschweig area and for the area of ​​the transit route to West Berlin . In the early 1990s, the system was handed over to Deutsche Telekom .

The frequency of 100.3 MHz with 15 kW transmission power previously used at this location for N-Joy was operated until the end of the week and went to the radio that had previously been broadcast from this location on 96.8 MHz with 150 watts 38 . The frequency of 96.8 MHz was deleted without replacement.

Digital radio ( DAB / DAB + )

The digital radio ( DAB + ) is broadcast in vertical polarization and in single-frequency mode with other transmitters. On August 30, 2012, the nationwide multiplex on channel 5C with 1 kW ERP (increased to 10 kW on November 2, 2015) and the state-wide multiplex from North German Broadcasting on DAB channel 11B with 16 kW ERP transmission power took place.
